Highlights of FMM Kedah Courtesy Visit to Alor Setar Mayor cum 1st IPMC Meeting Alor Setar/Mergong, 28 April 2009
FMM Kedah Rep Office paid a Courtesy Visit to Alor Setar Mayor on April 28, 2009, led by Dr Haminuddin Abd Hamid. Concurrently, the IPMC Alor Setar/Mergong was conducted and co-chaired by Alor Setar Mayor YBhg Datuk Haji Khazali bin Haji Din and En Teoh Thean Yong of DXN Industry Sdn Bhd.

Highlights of IPMC Baling/Kuala Ketil Meeting on 31 March 2009
Road repairs by PKNK after the last IPMC meeting included:

i. Junction at the main entrance and main road to Kuala Ketil Industrial Area;
ii. Three-junction adjacent to Sounthern Cable;
iii. Road near Schaefer Kalk;
iv. Road connecting Desa Bidara housing area and Kuala Ketil Industrial Area.

Kedah State Exco for Industry's Visit to Schaefer Kalk (M) Sdn Bhd - 13 March 2009
FMM Kedah assisted in arranging a factory visit by YB Dato’ Ir Amiruddin bin Hamzah, State Exco for Industry and Investment to Schaefer Kalk (M) Sdn Bhd in Kuala Ketil Industrial Area on March 13, 2009. The State Exco highlighted that the long standing land issues faced by Schaefer Kalk have been resolved. A tour of the plant was conducted to give the State Exco the overall picture of the operation as well as the company’s huge investment in the area.

OUTCOMES KEDAH INDUSTRY DIALOGUE with YAB MENTERI BESAR KEDAH, 28 February 2009 (Saturday)
The Kedah Industry Dialogue 2009 was chaired by YAB Dato’ Seri Ustaz Azizan Abd Razak, Menteri Besar Kedah. The Dialogue which was held in conjunction with Seminar on Halal Development was attended by more than 500 participants. FMM Kedah/Perlis Regional Committee Chairman, Dr Haminuddin Abd Hamid led FMM’s delegation and highlighted issues and proposals at the Dialogue session.

Seminar on Scheduled Waste Management - 19 March 2009
A Seminar on Scheduled Waste Management was conducted on March 19, 2009, in Sungai Petani, which was participated by 30 participants. FMM has invited Department of Environment, Kedah and Kualiti Alam Sdn Bhd to present the papers at the Seminar. FMM also invited Ideal Healthcare Sdn Bhd to share their experience in compliance of the environmental regulations.

FMM Advisory on Implementation of Retrenchment
FMM Kedah attended a meeting called by the Jabatan Tenaga Kerja Kedah (Labour Department) on 15 January 2009. In the current economic scenario, JTK advised employers to follow strictly the Guide for Employers on the Implementation of Retrenchment. Retrenchment should be the last resort.
